ILet’s start off with a statement that may not seem logical at first: sometimes going on a ride is less stimulating than taking a break in the Parks themselves.

I know that sounds odd - but hear me out.

As we’ve seen, the Parks are filled with lots of different kinds of unpredictable stimulation. And, while the rides are also rife with stimulation, this stimulation occurs in the same way each and every time. Being able to predict and anticipate what is going to happen next is a big deal for our neurospicy brains. Even if there is a lot of stimulation, if we know something is going to happen it doesn’t affect us as much as if it happened unpredictably.

All of which is a long way of saying that going on a predictable ride can be the most relaxing choice. Which rides may fall into the category of ‘predictable’ will depend on the individual, but for us, Pirates of the Caribbean and It’s a Small World are both reliable choices for when we just need to relax for a bit. This is likely because they are both rides that move slowly and allow us to choose what we look at out of many options. But there may be aspects of these rides that make them poor choices for you to relax! In the end, you’ll figure out which rides are more or less relaxing for you. I recommend making brief notes about them (either in a notepad or on some electronic device) so you can remember which rides are good for when you or your loved ones need a bit of time to wind down.
